WHY ALL THE MEDICINES?
Before medicine was invented, primitive man used a wide variety
of ideas to cure baldness and other ailments. Original examples
of many of these early ideas are on display in our Medicine and
Ideas wing.
In August 1348, with the outbreak of The Shits in medieval
Framley and Slopsy reaching plague-like proportions, the
need for medicine was higher than ever.

Not long after scenes such as the one above were built, medicine
was invented and people got better.

MEDICINE IN VICTORIAN DAYS

OW! THAT HURTS! In Victorian Framley, if caught, a pickpocket
would have his hands removed and replaced with his feet. If he
offended again, they would be swapped back.

MEDICINE FOR THE FUTURE
It's not all looking through the past at Framley museum though,
of course!
Modern surgery techniques are displayed, like the one below where
in the centre of the theatre sit a crab and a crow, helping the
chief surgeon choose the best tool for the job.
